The Greatest Gift, Ever!

A Word of Faith Tea-Time Meditation

For years, a friend and co-worker shared with me daily morsels of God’s word, along with testimonies of God’s goodness, in her life. During those years, my heart was not open to hear the word of the Lord or to receive the Lord Jesus into my heart, as my Savior. You see, I had other plans, so I thought.

Years later, one Saturday afternoon, while working a split-shift, some missionaries evangelizing in my neighborhood, happened to knock on my door and asked me if they could share Jesus Christ with me. I said yes, and invited them in. After they shared the gospel of Christ, the same gospel my friend had been sharing with me for years, I opened my heart, confessed my sin and my faith in Jesus Christ, and invited Him into my heart as my Savior and Lord. In that moment, I became a born again Christian and received the gift of eternal life (salvation), The Greatest Gift, Ever!

Only Jesus knows why my heart opened-up that particular day, when I made my decision to invite Him into my heart. But I thank God, upon every rememberance of my spiritual birth, forty-five years ago. At that point, I had not been attending church regularly, only on holidays. But from that day on, the church weighed heavily on my heart and mind with an urging to reunite with my church fellowship. After reuniting, I began to attend Sunday school classes, worship services and the weekly Bible study, regularly, to learn more and more about my Lord Jesus Christ and His word.

As I grew spiritually, my passion and love for the Lord Christ grew also. I learned that “it is in Him that I live and move and have my being;” that He is the God of Creation (heaven and earth); the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end; that He is the Sovereign, Omnipotent, Most High, King of kings and Lord of lords. He is the Lord our God, who was and is and forever will be. For He created me in my mother’s womb. He knows everything there is to know about me; and He loves me unconditionally. So, on that special day, forty-five years ago, He knew that I needed Him and the greatest gift one could ever receive, the gift of eternal life.

So it was, through those missionaries that He knocked on my door and presented me with the gospel message of eternal salvation. On that day, I met the Lord Jesus, for myself; He changed my heart and gave me the greatest gift that I will ever receive and turned my life in His direction.

Thank you, Lord! I am forever changed and eternally grateful for the free gift of eternal life.
