THE ANCHOR OF GOD’S WORD

AG Daily Inspiration Elevenses Teatime LEARNING

Everyday life with its insurmountable challenges, circumstances and uncertainties can too often leave us tired, weary, disheartened, wavering in our faith, discouraged, and wanting to give up hope. When I am feeling some of these things, I go to the word of God for wisdom, guidance, encouragement, strength, and peace. For when our lives are anchored in God’s word we have:

  • Hope to face tomorrow. “Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the Lord his God” (Psalms 146:5, NKJV). [See Psalms 42:5]
  • The assurance of God’s unconditional love. “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:37-39, NIV). [See Jeremiah 31:3; I John 4:10].
  • The joy of the Lord. “Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry for mercy. The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him” (Psalms 28: 6-7, NIV).
  • The peace of God. “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27, NIV). [See, Isaiah 26:3; Psalms 91].
  • Faith strengthened by God’s word. “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17, NKJV). [See, Hebrews 11:1,6]
  • The security that comes from trusting God’s word. ““God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” (Numbers 23:19, NKJV); [See, Proverbs 3:5,6; Psalms 32:8; Ps. 34].
