Everyday is a Day of Thanksgiving, Morning & Night

A Word of Faith

“It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praise to Your name, Most High, to declare Your faithful love in the morning and Your faithfulness at night…”

Psalms 92: 1,2

Thanksgiving is a day (season) of giving thanks to God for all that He has done in and through our lives and how He has provided.  It is a humbling reminder of seasons past, when the first Pilgrims (English settlers of 1621) gave thanks to God, for their first Autumn crop, in the New World (America).  In 1863, during the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed Thanksgiving a federal day of “Thanksgiving and Praise to our Father who dwells in heaven.”  Thanksgiving is now considered a national holiday; in that, it was by presidential proclamation.

Every year, many of us go to the House of God (the Church), to Worship and Praise the Lord, our God, on Thanksgiving morning.  We adorn our homes with fall colors, fill baskets and cover tables with fruits, vegetables and beautiful flower arrangements that depict an Autumn harvest;  we invite our family, loved ones and friends to share in a festive Thanksgiving meal, prepared with an array of delicious dishes, as an expression of love and thankfulness.  And as we gather around the table, a prayer of thanksgiving is lifted to our God for the bountiful blessings He has provided (food, shelter, health/strength and the good fortune to share with those in need).  And opportunities may be given to those in attendance to express their gratitude for something they are thankful for this season.  What are you most thankful for this Thanksgiving season?   Share your gratitude with someone; it just might be the word of faith they need to hear.

“Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise. Be thankful unto Him and bless His name. For the Lord is good, His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.”

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds to all the peoples.”

Psalms 100:4, 5; I Chronicles 16:8

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!
